ToggleIntroduction - Personal Income Tax Rates 2023-24
Personal Income Tax Rates 2023-24 – In the Finance Act of 2023, the tax-free income threshold for male taxpayers has been increased to Tk. 3.50 lakh from the current Tk. 3.00 lakh. For females and senior citizens above 65 years, the tax-free income threshold has been increased to Tk. 4.00 lakh from Tk. 3.50 lakh. The noteworthy point is that the income tax exemption threshold has finally been raised after 2020. The increase in the tax-free limit by Tk. 0.50 lakh will alleviate some of the cost burdens on taxpayers who are already facing significant challenges due to the high inflation caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, although the overall tax burden will only be slightly reduced.
